Bed of coals
15 energy cost, 1 sec time, 30 seconds recharge

Spell. Create a Bed of Coals at your location. For 10 seconds, foes standing still near this location are struck for 5...24 fire damage each second. Any foe knocked down on the Bed of Coals is set on fire for 3...6 seconds.

Vs

Fire storm
15 energy cost, 2 sec time, 30 seconds recharge.
Spell. Create a Fire Storm at target foe's location. For 10 seconds, foes adjacent to that location are struck for 5...24 fire damage each second.

Whats the thing? Even though Bed coals mentions that it strikes foes only "standing still" , it has an advantage of 1 sec cast time, range(near vs adjacent) and burning when knocked down. In my opinion, this should be solved in a specific way, since it's quite imbalancing.

Making either of those come true, would do imo.

1) Improve damage of Fire storm, or weaken Bed of coals damage.
2) Give 2 seconds cast to bed of coals
3) Make the recharge on bed of coals 10-15 sec longer, or shorten fire storm recharge by like 10 seconds.
4) Set fire storm energy cost to 10. I'm least after this one, but it's still a sollution.

firestorm is a classical example of why eles blow as damage dealers. Comparing it to anything is poinless.

Worse? why worse, when eles blow as damage dealers, and other classes can outdamage them, and its not true that they do the most damage in one hit than any other class.

The vast majority of fire spells are awful. You're suggesting that one of them might be a bit better than Firestorm, and should thus be worsened. This is a bad idea.

Firestorm has the advantage (though we're comparing a classic fire ele skill to a new Factions one) of having a casting range, whereas Bed of Coals, does not. Granted, even though I no longer use Firestorm, this is a huge unseen and often overlooked advantage when using ele skills (especially to those who just want to see giant explosions and bodies hitting the floor). Try casting Bed of Coals through a wall, or over a bridge ;-)

I would have to say that this is replacement for the aoe affect of firestorm.That is bed of coals and it is a nice skill for fire Eles.

Oh i did not say nerf Eles. I just seen no diffrence in energy cost and recharge, and Bed of coals > fire storm in most factors, that's what i mean.

bed of coals is not flat-out > firestorm. it totally depends on your build and needs.

you're not comparing apples to apples.

bed of coals = your location (defensive skill)
firestorm = foe's location (offensive skill)

I agree, I think that Fire Storm and Coals don't need to be nerfed. Coals is more for defending then attacking, and you also need to stand still to take damage.

Fire Storm on the other hand, is pure dmg (it doesn't matter if you are moving) so i think that equals the 1 second casting time.

Oh come on. Orison of Healing has the potential to do more damage than Firestorm! Asking to reduce damage on any Ele spell is nerfing since they suck enough already.

i cant understand why any ele would want to use firestorm at all after the aoe nerf. only frustrates the hell out of everyone else in the group.
